Your Brain Is A Super Computer

Isn’t our brain a supercomputer? Our brain processes large amounts of data and operates every single function inside our body. So yes, it definitely is. But here’s what’s fascinating – even though it might seem like computers are far more superior, the human brain is actually a lot more advanced than the best supercomputers that were ever built. The amount of data that the human brain is able to process and its raw computing power is incomparable. So, it goes without saying that we should definitely take good care of this priceless work of art. I’ve listed a few things that you can do to protect your supercomputer brain.

Update Its Software

Your brain is a supercomputer that needs its software updated every once in a while. There are several things that you can do to make sure that your brain gets the software update that it needs.

1. Read Books

Reading books is essential for the brain. Non-fiction books help you to learn about the world and fiction books improve your creativity. There are tons of benefits of reading, which makes it crucial for each and every one of us. An hour of reading a day can help to keep your brain creative and updated.

2. Listen To Podcasts

Make it a habit to listen to podcasts between activities. If you’re driving or having a break, listen to a 10 – 15 minute podcast. There are many types of podcasts that you can listen to. If you’re in need of motivation, listen to a motivational podcast. If you’re interested in listening to tips on how to improve a certain aspect of your life, look it up! I’m pretty sure it’s available. Whichever it is, try to listen to a good podcast that can help you feel more productive and motivated throughout your day. This not only helps your supercomputer brain, but it also helps your knowledgeability and even personality in the long run.

3. Experience More

The more activities you allow yourself to experience, the more exposure you get. Every once in a while, expose yourself to new experiences. This enables you to have the ability to adapt to changes in the long run. While you’re experiencing new things, you will also be facing new challenges. This will help you to build on your self-confidence and will improve your supercomputer brain massively.

Protect Its Battery

We all know the difference between a device with a good battery and a bad one. A device with a poor quality battery will always show poor performance. They can be slow and unresponsive and are extremely difficult to work with. Similarly, our brains need to be taken care of properly in order to function well. The better the battery, the better the performance.

1. Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is one of the most important points to take note of when it comes to taking care of your brain. I’ve mentioned the importance of getting sufficient sleep in my article about self-improvement as well. Getting insufficient sleep can ruin your brain’s “battery”. The recommended 6 to 8 hours of sleep is a must if you want your brain to perform like a supercomputer.

2. Get A Digital Detox

Spending too much time on your electronic devices and social media can be harmful to your brain. It will slowly reduce your peak performance levels and ruin the battery of your supercomputer brain. Once a month or once every two weeks, make it a habit to spend a day or at least a few hours without using technology. This digital detox will be really helpful to maintain good brain function.

3. Connect With Nature

At least for an hour daily, take a walk outside and allow your eyes to take a break and relax. Connecting with nature has proven to be one of the most effective ways to get your brain to focus better. Better focus equals better performance, right? Give your eyes the rest that it needs, regularly. It will help your supercomputer brain’s functionality.

Your Brain Is A Super Computer - keep it clean

Clean Its Hard Drive

It’s really important to always keep our devices clean – not just on the outside, but the inside as well. Cleaning your desktop and your phone can really help you to remember where all your files and folders are. It helps you work much easier and overall, you will feel a lot more organized. Similarly, “cleaning up” our brains will help us to concentrate better and have more clarity. There are three main tasks that I personally recommend, which will help you with this tremendously.

1. Meditate

Meditating right after you wake up or right before you go to bed can help you to calm down your mind. When the mind is calm, it’s easier for your brain to think and process information. If you want your brain to be like a supercomputer, you’ll need to train your mind to focus and concentrate.

2. Keep A Journal

You know how computers back up their hard drives every once in a while? Well, you need to do that for your brain as well. Make it a habit to write in a journal at least once every day. Keeping track of your activities, thoughts, and feelings can really help your brain to have a clearer view of whether you’re making progress or not. Also, if you haven’t been on track with your schedules and work, this journal will act as a constant reminder that might make you feel guilty and make you want to get back on track.

3. Build Therapeutic Hobbies

A hobby is something that you do for fun. It’s something that you usually enjoy doing and it normally takes the stress out of your system. Try to take up therapeutic hobbies that help you to take pressure off of your mind. Some of us find journaling, gardening, or knitting therapeutic. Others can find dancing, boxing, or hiking therapeutic. You can choose a hobby depending on your preference. Whichever it is, make sure you thoroughly enjoy it instead of taking one just for the sake of it.

If you can follow through with everything that I’ve mentioned in this article, I can guarantee you, if your brain could speak, it will definitely thank you.
